Installing PatternMaker on PlayOnMac

The next step is to tell PlayOnMac which version of Wine to use. Start PlayOnMac and click Configure.

Select the General tab. To the right of Wine version there is a +. Click +.

It takes a moment to search what versions of Wine are available. New versions are released to address problems so use the latest version which is displayed at the top of the list. As of this writing it is Wine 1.7.38 Highlight it and click >.

The wine wizard is displayed. Click Next.

It will spend some time downloading the lastest version of wine. Wait.

The installed version of Wine is displayed on the right side. Close the dialog by clicking the X in the upper left corner.

Back in PlayOnMac Configuration select the installed version of wine in the Version dropdown. Here it is 1.7.38 Next close the dialog with the X

In the main PlayOnMac dialog highlight PatternMaker and click Run.

Wine checks if it has the mono framework for .net applications. It asks to install it. PatternMaker does not use .net but it is safe to install it. Click Install.

A download window will appear. Wait for it to vanish.

A Units dialog will appear. This is part of PatternMaker asking if we want to use inches or cm and how to display the units. Select what you want and click Ok.

The welcome dialog appears. You can view the Quickstart or check Open a blank drawing and click Ok.

The PatternMaker screen appears. It works. You can play with it or close it and try installing a collection.
